Questions families ask

What ages and hours do you serve?

Children who are 3 or 4 years old by the start of the school year. Class mornings run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and lunch bunch runs until 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

How does a tour work?

A tour is a class morning. You see the room while class is on, meet the teachers and talk with a parent on duty. Children are welcome to come along.

What sets tuition?

Your child's age, the schedule you choose and whether you include lunch bunch. Co-op membership is separate and is met with duty hours. Our figures are on the enrollment page, and we go through them at the tour.

How is a place held, and how does the waitlist work?

A place is held once we have your enrollment form and the first month's payment. When a class is full, families join the waitlist, and we offer places in the order families joined.

Is the school licensed?

Yes. Cork is licensed by the Office of Child Care Licensing, the state agency that licenses child care in Delaware.

What about photos of my child?

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

How many duty hours does a family give?

A classroom family works one class morning about every third week, takes one job for the year and comes to the monthly meeting and two Saturday work days. The board sets the duties for the year.

What if our family cannot do a duty?

Tell us early. The board keeps a list of families who can swap a morning, and a family can move to work-day duty for a term. Nobody is left to sort it out alone.

What about toilet learning?

Most children use the toilet on their own. If your child is still learning, tell us at the tour. A teacher goes with them, and we agree a plan with you.

How do you handle a hard day?

A teacher stays close, gives the child time and words, and tells you at pickup what happened. If a hard day keeps coming back, we talk with you.

Still have a question?

Write to us or call, and a teacher will answer.
