Family policies

What families ask us before a child starts.

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home and returns after being well for a full day. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you right away and ask you to come promptly. A teacher stays with the child until you arrive.

Drop-off and pickup

A teacher greets each child at the door in the morning, and children go home only with the adults on the pickup list you give us. We ask for ID until we know you. Tell us ahead when someone new is coming.

Late pickup

Class ends at 12:30 p.m. If you are running late, call or text the school so a teacher can stay with your child. We talk with families about repeated late pickups, and the membership agreement says what follows.

Meals, snacks and allergies

A snack is part of every class morning and families take turns sending it in. Children bring a lunch for lunch bunch. Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask privately once you enroll. We ask families not to send nuts.

Closures for weather and holidays

We close for the winter break, the spring break and the usual holidays, and we share the year's closures when school starts. If weather closes the school, we email and text families early in the morning.

Leaving the program

We ask for a month's written notice before a child leaves, so that we can offer the place to a family on the waitlist.

What to wear and bring

Send clothes your child can manage and that can get dirty, a rain jacket and boots in wet weather, and a spare set of clothes in a labeled bag. Indoor shoes stay at school.

Absences, and missing a duty morning

Call or text the school by 8:30 a.m. if your child will be away. If you cannot work a duty morning, tell a teacher or the board as early as you can, and the board will help you swap with another family.

Questions about a policy?

Ask us on a tour, or write to us, and we will explain how it works in the room.
